3 Days in Cairo & Giza: A Practical Itinerary

Three days is enough for a strong first introduction to Cairo and Giza if the schedule is organized geographically. On day one, focus on the Giza plateau and allow unhurried time for the Pyramids and Great Sphinx. If museums are a priority, combine the day with a major museum visit rather than crossing the city repeatedly.\n\nUse day two for Cairo itself. Choose a combination of historic neighborhoods, religious heritage, local streets and a museum based on your interests. A private driver or carefully planned transfers can reduce time lost in traffic. Finish the day with Nile-side dining or an evening cruise if that suits your pace.\n\nDay three can be more flexible: add Saqqara and Memphis for a deeper archaeological day, or choose modern Cairo, shopping and a slower cultural program. Hotel location matters because Greater Cairo is large. A Giza stay works well for pyramid-focused mornings, while central Cairo or Nile-side hotels can be more practical for city dining and museums.
